He's on the 1820 OPD census with Mary "Polly" Murphree just after they married as Harper "Crowther", and then on the 1830-1880 censuses with her in Blount Co Alabama. We have land records for him in Blount County, the first in 1820 and the last in 1858, but we have never learned when exactly he died or where he and Polly are buried. The land he owned was in Chepultepec, present day Allgood, near Oneonta. Some people say the George "Clawdis" on the 96th District SC 1790 census is Harper's father, which he may be, but I've never found any real proof of that other than they were both in the same general vicinity. |
