| Served in the 49th Reg., Alabama Infantry, Company I. John was wounded and captured at the Battle of Nashville. He was a wood-turner and blacksmith employed by Elijah Murphree to rebuild his mill in 1863. After having land confiscated, they purchased and re-built on Straight Mountain in Blount Co.
