Old Business:

Chair Project - Nancy Brindley met with a representative of Alabama Constitution Village and learned that the chair program has been canceled. They have a new adopt a school program. The intention was to place a chair at Constitution village for Gabriel Hanby who was the Blount County Delegate for Alabama's First Constitution. Gabriel's daughter Nancy Hanby married Mace Thomas Payne Brindley.

Grave Marker Project - BIHF is trying to insure that ancestral graves have proper markers. Asa Brindley came with his mother (Phoebe), brother and sisters to Collinsville. He was in the Alabama State Legislature and five of his sons were killed in the Civil War. The Book "The Old Stagecoach Road" is about this line of the family. Asa is buried in the Hall Cemetery and it has been cleaned.

Where is Phoebe buried? Phoebe Brindley probably dies at age 91 while living with Daniel and Eudoxy Easley. There is an Easley - Tidwell cemetery near the little Warrior River, not far from Gabriel Hanby's grave. According to the 1850 census, Phoebe at age 81 lived with Daniel and Eudoxy. We would like to mark the Tidwell Cemetery and put a fence around the graves.

Helen Brindley made a motion that a marker, priced within reason, be placed at the probable site of Phoebe Brindley's Grave similar to the marker on Gabriel Hanby's Grave.

It was also suggested that the Fall 2000 meeting be at the Tidwell Cemetery with a memorial service and marker dedication for Phoebe Brindley.

Other Cemerys that may have Brindley Graves are Gum Springs and a small cemetery on the right of Crawford Shoot. It is belived that there are two Brindley children burried in this cemtery. There is a fense around it.

Mountian Project - Nancy Brindley gave a multimedia presentation about the Brindley Mountain project.

Motions were made and passed to
1) Have BrindleyMtn.org bumper stickers printed
2) Paint Brindley Mountian on the Rock at the bottom of the Mountain on Hwy 231 south of Huntsville
3) Put signs on the two remaining bridges on Brindley Creek

It was suggested that the Spring 2000 meeting be at the Birmingham Museum of Art and feature the life of James Brindley of England.

The meeting ajourned and refreshemts were served.
